Hi, I’m Marisa

After six years working in media production, trying any position anyone would hire me to do, I’ve found I’m happiest when behind my camera!

After graduating from Pratt Institute in 2019 with a BFA in Creative Writing, my first job (aside from working part-time in restaurants, which I believe is just as important as anything!) was working for comedians in New York City. I did social media management, full video production, including shooting and editing. I photographed comedians in clubs and theaters all over the city, which is where I started my professional photography career.

While I still love comedy and all the connections I made, my love for telling stories was too overpowering. Now I choose to work with small businesses and real people, photographing weddings, events, brands, and hospitality! I get to capture people living real-life moments and create content for businesses that feels true to them, all while bringing my own vibrant, bold, and cinematic spin!

When I’m taking a photo or writing a story or an essay or putting together a video for a client, I do so in the way that makes the most cinematic sense to me. I love film and television, I consume hours of it a week, and it helps me draw inspiration for my own work, and fuels me with creative energy to want to make something ordinary feel like the most special thing that has ever happened to you.

some of my favorite things…

“I have done a lot of different things and the pleasure of it is that since very few people make a living as an artist, why not just do what you want to do? Instead of conforming to the model of what one thinks one should do, why not just do it? Just get all of those demons out of one’s system and all the pleasures and all the fantasies and just run with them. That has been terrible for my career but wonderful for my soul.”
